Swimming in Northern NH

There’s nothing like swimming in the beautiful clear water of Androscoggin Valley’s rivers, lakes, and fresh water swimming holes. Our state parks – Jericho Mountain State Park (Berlin), Moose Brook State Park (Gorham), and South Pond Recreational Area (Stark) – offer swimming, picnicking and fishing, and trails for exploring on foot or mountain bike.

As you travel along Route 16 from, you will also find some tranquil, fresh water swimming holes (Third Hole, Garnet, Emerald Pool) amidst a spectacular backdrop. The friendly folks at the Gorham Information Booth (69 Main Street) will help you find them.

Take a short hike into Glen Ellis Falls in Gorham, where you will find several swimming holes and a majestic waterfall that tumbles 64 feet into an emerald-green pool.

Androscoggin Valley offers a variety of places to “take a plunge.”
